Dick Whiskey

Watching My Step

The music on this album is a true synthesis of 70s, 80s, and 90s music. The guitar work at times is reminiscent of riff-intensive classic rock. However, the programmed drums give it a 80s feel. The guitars are really very good and are the highlight of this album---the riffs are extremely catchy. In fact, it's so good that it almost detracts from the non-seriousness of the rest of the album. The lyrics and the general tone of the music have a Ween meets They Might be Giants feel to it. Dick Whiskey may well be the Fred Schneider for the 90s. One of the better underground recordings of 1998.
