Faith No More - albums

The Real Thing

Mike Patton and company are truly stunning in this album. From the MTV-overplayed (it still sounds good) track Epic to Surprise! You're Dead! to a cover Black Sabbath's War Pigs, this album contains a lot of tunes that are very quirky and weird.

King for a Day, Fool for a Lifetime

With the release of The Real Thing, Mike Patton became the former. With the release of Angel Dust, in the minds of some reviewers, Patton became the latter. The music in Faith No More's latest isn't as weird as the Mr. Bungle releases, though there is some overlap. It's also not as good as The Real Thing since I feel they do not experiment enough. But it is straight-forward, hard-hitting thrash metal mixed with restrained weirdness, and better than their previous effort Angel Dust. It almost sounds like a followup to a Suicidal Tendencies album. There is some innovativeness seen in Evidence, The Gentle Art of Making Enemies, Star A.D., Ugly in the Morning, and King for a Day. The CD comes with a cool sticker.
